Madrid is much more than a city. A whole region to enjoy

Three World Heritage Cities, eleven villages, orchards, reservoirs, mountains … Madrid is much more than a city, it is a whole region with great attractions less than an hour from the center of the capital.

You can visit palaces and monasteries, you can enjoy nature and marvel at the history of our region and, of course, all this can be complemented with a first class cuisine. Visiting places like San Lorenzo de el Escorial, Aranjuez, Chinchón or going to the Picasso Museum in Buitrago de Lozoya are perfect plans in which gastronomy can occupy a prominent place.

The wine cellars of Madrid

Although the oldest documents speak of the existence of wine in Madrid back in the twelfth century, wine production in Madrid was gaining in importance during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. In the 15th century the wines of Madrid reached their maximum prestige -some even qualified a white wine from the area of San Martín de Valdeiglesias as «the best Spanish wine»- and the municipal authority had to protect the production from fraudulent imports.

All this wealth was lost due to civil conflicts and, fundamentally, to a phylloxera plague that devastated most of Madrid’s vineyards. But for the last 50 years the efforts of individual winegrowers to recover the quality of the wines of Madrid have managed to boost the prestige of the wines of the region and since 1990 there is the Denomination of Origin wines of Madrid with a corresponding Regulatory Council.

From Madrid4all we organize personalized visits to selected wineries in the Community of Madrid to taste their best wines and learn first hand about their vineyards, explaining the characteristics of each area and harmonizing the tasting with a tasting of premium products. We do not go to the big wineries, we look for wineries that make signature wines and where the winemaker is as important as the winery itself. We can also organize these days by selecting a complete itinerary that will include the best restaurants in the area and special plans visiting orchards and wineries. A tailor-made tourism program for each traveler. And as in all our activities we can accompany you visiting the orchard of Aranjuez and explaining its fascinating history or taking a walk through El Escorial and organizing a meal in a Michelin star restaurant with a unique offer of natural wines.
